She and her mother were found inside a stall that had been nailed shut. They were living in over a foot of manure, and the mare needed to gain several hundred pounds. A month after their rescue, a friend who had taken the mare and this filly to her farm called and asked for assistance. The filly had to be weaned, so that her dam could begin gaining weight and recovering. The filly was a willow-the-wisp that darted behind and around her mother, always avoiding being caught. She came to me on January 19, 2007, a beautiful sorrel filly with a white star and a white foot. She didn't want me to touch her, but after two or three days, I was hugging her while she ate her feed in her stall. Her name is Stellar, but she is known here as “BabyCakes.” She shares a pasture with a Spanish Mustang mare, and a Shackleford mare, and she’s growing like a weed! She will lead, and loves to come outside her pasture and walk down the driveway, and through the yard. She deserves a good loving home, where she can be gently trained. I have seen no vices in this filly, and there isn’t a mean bone in her sweet body. She has a small umbilical hernia. Stellar can not be started under saddle until 2009. Located in Southeast NC |
