(June 2, 2006) - Two horses were seized in Wake County, North
Carolina on April 17, 2006, but the owner was not found to serve
the warrant until this week, June 2, 2006. Another horse linked
to this case, but belonging to another owner was charged today
and the horse was seized. All three horses are in USERL's protection
pending court proceedings.
Wake County Animal Control contacted two USERL wake county appointed
animal cruelty investigators, Will Walls and Julie Walls, on 4/17/06
to ask for assistance with a case. They determined that the owner
had not been caring for the animals or providing medical treatment
for one horse and seized both horses, with charges filed for abandonment
and deprivation of medical care. The owner, Robert Bullock of
Holly Springs, was supposedly out of town according to a friend.
These two horses are now out of quarantine and in USERL's protection
pending court proceedings.
That same day, while the USERL Investigators were out there on
that seizure, AC also asked Will and Julie Walls to look at another
horse owned by a "friend" of Robert Bullock, the same
friend who had said Bullock was out of town. Will Walls accompanied
AC out to do that case & they left instructions for the horse's
care. Those instructions were ignored. Bullock was finally located
and arrested a couple of days ago.
Today, AC decided they wanted to seize the friend's horse as
well because it continued to lose ground and the owner wasn't
complying with care recommendations they had left previously.
This horse is in quarantine under USERL's care.
