| November 29, 2006 - Jennifer Malpass -
USERL has been working with Sampson County Animal Control recently
on several cases. November 28, 2006, after 1 week of investigating
the owner and locating him, he agreed to surrender five of his
seven horses over to USERL. The investigation will continue and
the remaining two horses will be monitored very closely to see
that the owner complies with recommendations regarding their care.
One of the five surrendered requires immediate medical attention
due to severe thrush conditions from standing in a filthy stall
for several years. A mare will also be evaluated for what appears
to be a deformity of her hoof that has gone untreated as well.
We will update you on each of the horses in the following weeks
to come. And these horses will need fosters after they clear quarantine
in two weeks.
